Retail & Tourism

The Fund's Retail & Tourism sector group seeks to support projects that will bring new retail services and employment opportunities to the city. The sector group is chaired by Paul R. Charron, former Chairman and CEO of Liz Claiborne. Mr. Charron has been involved in a number of retail industry activities, including leadership positions on the boards of the National Retail Federation and the American Apparel and Footwear Association. He is currently a senior advisor at Warburg Pincus, a managing partner with Fidus Investment Partners, and the Chairman of the Board of Campbell Soup Company.

Past retail sector investments include Harbor Experience Companies, Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, Applebee's Neighborhood Grill Bar, NuKitchen, Aabco Sheet Metal Company, and Greenpoint Manufacturing & Design. In addition, NYCIF has provided loans to non-profit organizations, such as, The Doe Fund and Therapy and Learning Center, to help them expand their ability to offer needed community services, as well as to welfare-to-work initiatives to train and place individuals in retail industry jobs.
